BDO appoints new member firm in Fiji

BDO is pleased to announce the appointment of G Lal & Co as its new member firm in Fiji, effective 1 December 2013. To be known henceforward as BDO Fiji, the new firm in Fiji was formerly part of the PKF international network, having been established as an independent firm in 1970. G Lal & Co has an excellent reputation in the local market and, under the leadership of Nalin Patel and Pradeep Patel, has grown measurably in recent years to 72 partners and staff.

The firm focuses on audit and accounting but their full service offering also includes tax, corporate finance and other advisory services. Its impressive client list covers both local and international companies and features a number of long-term clients. The firm is particularly strong in the retail, manufacturing, tourism, telecommunications and media sectors.

Nalin Patel, Managing Partner, is looking forward to joining forces with BDO. “Our firm has always striven to provide quality professional services that meet the needs of our clients and, as part of the BDO network, we will have recourse to international expertise that will ensure we can deliver the necessary mix of professionalism and business knowledge on a global scale, as well as exceptional quality. We have been particularly attracted to the strength and coverage that BDO has in Australia and New Zealand. Our familiarity with much of the Australian firm and its proven ability to service our clients in these markets was also an appealing quality.
“Furthermore, our firm’s values are an exact fit with BDO’s, in that our focus is always on our clients and ensuring levels of service that exceed their expectations. We are also committed to investing in the future in order to strengthen our firm and joining a network of equals, such as BDO, is another significant point of alignment”.

Martin van Roekel, CEO of BDO, added “I am particularly pleased to welcome another PKF firm to our network. In the past 18 months we have seen members from PKF joining BDO in Australia (Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne & Sydney), the UK, Vietnam and a key business unit in Beijing, China. We are proud to be at the forefront of a consolidating market that is creating strong professional services firms focused on exceptional client service and global leadership.

“What’s more, it is always a pleasure to be introduced to a firm whose history of longevity in client relationships, supported by a high level of partner involvement, have them scoring well in terms of client satisfaction, time after time: there is no doubt that the new BDO Fiji exemplifies the BDO Vision, to be the leader for exceptional client service”.
